Freeziac

Overview:

Freeziac is a self-serve yogurt shop and the fourth location in a chain of six built across the Twin Cities. The design emphasizes a high-end look that still meets cost targets. Each store ties into its neighborhood by featuring original art inspired by local landmarks.

Project Goals:

  • Present a strong franchise image within a modest construction budget (under $100K).
  • Offer a cheerful and inviting environment for customers.
  • Reflect community pride through custom wall graphics depicting regional icons.

Design and Implementation:

  • Layout/Structural Changes:
The shop spans 1,157 square feet. Stations for yogurt dispensers and topping areas were placed for easy self-service flow, with seating areas arranged to encourage mingling and a comfortable dining pace.
  • Materials and Finishes:
    • The furniture, fixtures, and equipment (FF&E) budget was kept under $40K, covering lighting, fabrics, graphics, furniture, and decorative elements.
    • Bold accent colors and eye-catching finishes were integrated to elevate the overall ambiance while staying within financial limits.
    • Custom artwork highlighting local scenes adds a special sense of place.
  • Key Elements:
    • Wall-mounted graphics tied to nearby attractions.
    • Budget-friendly yet stylish seating and lighting solutions.
    • Open circulation between yogurt dispensers, toppings, and checkout.

Challenges:

Fitting a polished look into a tight cost framework called for precise planning and sourcing. Managing the creation and installation of unique local artwork required collaboration with artists to ensure each piece resonated with neighborhood themes.

Outcome:

Completed in June 2011, this Freeziac location balances creativity and cost control. The final result meets the franchise vision, offering a lively atmosphere that connects directly with the surrounding community while serving as a fun, family-friendly dessert destination.
